Our Lady of Guadalupe
Sunday, Dec. 10
Mass & Fiesta

St. Odilia has the privilege of being a parish for people of many cultures and histories, but one of our biggest groups is our Latino community. This year, we have an unusual opportunity. Since the Mass and Fiesta of Our Lady of Guadalupe will be celebrated on a Sunday this year, English-speaking parishioners are especially invited.

Everyone is invited to worship with the Latino community at our 12:45 Mass, which is in Spanish. We’ll have worship aids and other assistance for those who do not speak Spanish. No RSVP is needed.

Members of our English-speaking community who wish to attend the Fiesta that follows the Mass are asked to RSVP.

How to RSVP for the Fiesta:
Print the Guadalupe RSVP form in the “Forms” section at the bottom of this webpage, and mail or bring it to St. Odila, or pick up a paper form in the parish office or the Faith Formation office.

Donations: Since our Latino community funds this Fiesta themselves, any donation you would care to make, to share in supporting the Fiesta, would be very much appreciated. See details on the RSVP form.

Volunteering: please indicate on the form whether you’d like to pitch in alongside our Latino parishioners on various Fiesta tasks.

DID YOU KNOW that, in 1945, Pope Pius XII named Our Lady of Guadalupe as the “Patroness of the Americas”? So she is Blessed Mother for all of us, not just for people of Mexican or other Latino heritage. Come and experience the joy and warmth of her celebration here!

Co-sponsored by the Hispanic Leadership Council and the Social Justice Council. For more information, contact Lucy Arimond, Director of Adult Formation and Evangelization,, 651-415-3331.

Our Muslim-Christian connection continues
Ever wished we could do something to build bridges between Christians and Muslims?
We’ve made a good start – now let’s continue!

Missed our April 25 All About Islam program?
Want some reading on the topic?

About 80 St. Odilia parishioners, plus our Muslim guests from the Imam Husain Islamic Center, gathered here for Dr. Odeh Muhawesh’s very informative presentation. If you missed it, you might want to read his latest book, Islam & Christianity: Brothers at Odds – published in 2016 by the Imam Mahdi Association Marjaeya (a Shiite Muslim press). As a Muslim scholar who also teaches at the University of St. Thomas, Dr. Muhawesh presents a very clear picture of Shiite Muslim beliefs and practices, with comparisons to Christianity from the perspective of a Muslim who is committed to good interfaith dialog and relations.
Watch this bulletin for future events, as we continue to build our relationship with our Muslim brothers and sisters. For further information, please contact Lucy Arimond, Director of Adult Formation and Evangelization,, 651-415-3331.

Invitation - Men's Prayer Breakfast

We would like to welcome men to our prayer breakfast, which has been meeting for many years. We meet every Wednesday from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM at Byerlys 1601 West County Road C, Roseville, MN 55113. We start by reading the scriptures for Sunday, enjoy breakfast, share our thoughts on the meaning of the scripture readings, and end with short prayers. The "leading" rotates each week. Questions ? St. Odilia has a great tradition of parishioner-led book clubs, meeting here at the church, in parishioners’ homes, or at nearby libraries or restaurants. Some of the groups have been meeting for decades – they’ve been a treasured community connection. Our longtime “Spirituality Book Club” now meets on the third Thursday of every month in our conference room at 3510 Vivian Av., the building where Faith Formation and Latino Ministry are officed, and is inviting more parishioners to join them. At their September meeting, they will choose the books they'll be reading during this coming year. For further information, contact Mary Jo Rourke, 651-483-1228,

Enjoy the Sunday readings together!
Meet fellow parishioners!
Share how the Word of God comes alive in your life!

Our Tuesday morning Bible Study program, which starts for the fall on Sept. 26, is presently full. We keep a waiting list for this group, and invite new members as vacancies occur. We also could form a new group if the waiting list gets large enough. We’re still using the very popular “Sunday by Sunday” bible study guides to each week’s Sunday Mass readings, which are published by the Sisters of St. Joseph. Small group, informal atmosphere, friendly, prayerful, relaxed. Take some time out for the Word of God, enrich your understanding of the readings you’ll hear each Sunday at Mass, and explore how to live the meaning of the scriptures in your daily life and in our world.

For information or to register, contact one of our study group conveners, Rosie Stahl,, 651-483-6936, and Mary Ann Ryan,, or Lucy Arimond, Director of Adult Formation and Evangelization, 651-415-3331,
